GATE is an online-based national level post-graduate entrance exam. It is jointly conducted by the seven IITs - Mumbai, Delhi, Kanpur, Guwahati, Kharagpur, Madras, and Roorkee along with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore for admissions to M. Tech programs in various prestigious government and private institutes. To crack GATE is quite challenging and candidates with a clear vision and determination can score well in this tough nut exam. Apart from this, various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) also recruit Graduate Engineering Trainees through GATE exam. Such PSUs recruit Graduate Engineering Trainees based on scores obtained by them. Candidates can secure well-paid government jobs which acts as enough motivation for candidates to attempt for the GATE 2022 Exam. Every year nearly 1 million students register for GATE and embark on their preparation journey.
IIT, Kharagpur will release the GATE 2022 Exam application form (tentatively) in the month of August. Candidates can register for the GATE 2022 Exam through online mode. To access the application form, candidates can register at GATE 2022 Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). The exam fees for GATE 2022 will vary based on candidate's category such as SC, ST, OBC and more. GATE is conducted for candidates securing admissions into M.E./M. Tech /Ph.D. at the IITs, NITS, IIITs and CFTIs or to recruit them in PSUs, provide fellowship or make them eligible for admission across the border. GATE exam registration will be a six-step online process that will start from the month of August 2021.
While filling the application form, you need to furnish valid information about the personal, academic and contact details. The required application fee has to be done through online mode. Premier and top-rated technical institutes in India accept the GATE score to give admissions to postgraduate and Ph.D. engineering programmes.

Here is the list of complete documents required to fill up the GATE 2022 Application form -
GATE registration could be done till the second week of October, 2021 (late fee applicable). Candidates who wish to take the exam must have completed their online application process on the official site of the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS).
Step 1 –Registration
Visit the official site and register through GOAPS for GATE 2022 Exam. Create your login details and enter details such as:
Once you enter all the details, click on the submit ‘button’. A system-generated One Time Password (OTP) will be sent to the registered email ID and mobile number. Use the OTP to complete the GATE Exam registration 2022. Thereafter, a unique enrolment ID will be allotted to the successfully registered candidates.
Note - In case there is a delay in getting the OTP, candidates can proceed for application fee payment by verifying either email ID or mobile number. The remaining one has to be verified in further stages
Step 2 – Login And GATE Application Form Fill Up
Now that you've registered, you can log in and start filling up the GATE exam registration form. List of details that you need to fill in order to complete the GATE registration process:
Personal Details: Information like the name of the candidate, father’s & mother's name, date of birth, native, etc.
Academic Details: Information related to academic qualifications from HSC till graduation need to be entered.
Communication Details: Address as well as the permanent address needs to be filled up.
GATE Paper: Select the GATE paper appearing that you would like to appear for. (Changes of GATE exam paper is not allowed after submission of the form).
GATE Exam Centre: Select a total of three exams cities from the given list. The first two centers must be from the same zone while the third can be from any GATE 2022 regional zone.
Photo Identity Proof: The photo ID number and type of ID have to be entered.
Step 3 – Photo & Documentation Uploads
Upload your scanned images of photo, signature and other supportive documents.
Step 4 – Preview Of GATE Application Form
A preview of the GATE 2022 application form will be created before submission. So, review and verify all the details entered before submission.
Step 5 – Pay GATE 2022 Application Fee
You can now pay the GATE 2022 exam application fee online through Net-banking/debit card/credit card. The application fee varies as per the category of the candidates.

Step 6 – Application Form Submission
Once you successfully make the fee payment, submit the GATE 2022 Exam application form. That’s it you’re done with the GATE registration process. Those candidates who register successfully will be able to access the admit card of GATE 2022. Download it and take a print out of the filled application form for future reference
The GATE 2022 Application correction window will be available in October 2021. However, you cannot change the entire information you’ve provided. The last date to correct the mistakes such as spelling mistakes, numbers, etc in the GATE 2021 application form will be mentioned on the notification. In order to make changes, candidates will have to send an e-mail to their zonal offices.
The details that can be changed would be as follows - communication address, academic details, date of birth, gender, parent/guardian name, qualifying degree, year of degree & Category.
The following changes which cannot be done in the submitted GATE Application Form:
Once the details are submitted you cannot make further changes, if you still wish, then applicants will have to re-apply with a new email ID and mobile number for GATE Exam 2022. You won’t receive the refund of previous application fee.

IIT Kharagpur will first release the official notification in July 2021 including details such as GATE exam dates, eligibility criteria, exam pattern, syllabus, cut-off, etc. The GATE application form 2022 is expected to release in September 2021.
GATE registration process begins in September 2021 and the last date to submit the GATE application form 2022 would be the 4th Week, September 2021. The last date to submit an application form with a late fee (₹ 500) will be 2nd Week, October 2021. The request for 'Change Of Exam City' can be done in the 3rd Week, November 2021.
Yes! You can apply for two papers out of 27 papers for GATE 2022. You can choose any paper according to your admission plans, keeping the eligibility criteria in mind.
For GATE 2022 registration, Indian nationals will require Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Aadhaar UID, College ID, Enrolment ID, and Driving License. For International candidates - a valid Passport/ Government issued ID/ College ID or Employee ID will be required.
A candidate needs to hold a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university or institute in order to apply for the exam. There is no upper age limit for GATE 2022.
The fees for general category candidates would be INR 1500. The fees for female candidates and ST/SC/PwD is ₹ 750.
Foreign candidates are required to pay INR 1500 for centers in India. Candidates in Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka, and Kathmandu will need to pay $50 for application fee ($70 in case of late fee payment). Candidates attempting GATE in Dubai and Singapore, have to pay US$ 100 for application fee ($120 in case of late fee payment).
Candidates can opt for Net banking/credit card/debit card facility to make fee payment for the GATE exam 2022.
No! You don't have to send any hard copy to the exam authority or zonal offices. You only have to save the PDF for future reference.
