GATE paper analysis is an important part of your preparation. GATE 2022 Civil Engineering: Exam Pattern
The GATE Civil Engineering 2022 notification has been released by IIT Kharagpur on August 1, 2021. Candidates can visit the official site and check all the important GATE exam dates, syllabus, pattern, application form filling process, and other key parameters to appear for GATE 2022. Keeping in mind the earlier trends, one can expect the GATE exam pattern to be the same.

General Aptitude and Subject Specific |
The GATE Civil Engineering exam is online. It is a computer-based test (CBT).
The Division of Marks will be General Aptitude for 15% of total marks, Engineering Mathematics for 15% of total marks, and Paper or Discipline opted for by a candidate for 70% of total marks.
The questions paper will have a mix of Numerical Answer Test (NAT), Multiple Select (MSQ), and Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ). The detailed GATE Exam Pattern is discussed below.
There will be a total of 65 questions.
The question paper will carry a total of 100 marks.
The questions are to be answered in a total time of 3 hours.
There will be two sections i.e. General Aptitude and Core Subject (CE)
1/3 mark will be canceled/deducted for 1 mark MCQ.
The 2/3rd mark will be deducted for the 2 mark MCQ.
Overall Highlights of GATE 2021 Civil Paper
The overall level of the GATE 2021 Civil exam was Moderate-to-Difficult as some questions tested the GATE preparation of students.
Geotech Engineering and Environmental Engineering carried the highest marks weightage in both the sessions.
The qualifying GATE cutoff for the civil paper was around 27-29 marks

The overall level of the exam was Moderate
There were 15 NATs and 2 MCQs included in the paper.
General Aptitude and Engineering Mathematics sections were easy and candidates must score good marks in it.

There were 25+ NAT questions included in the paper.
The General Aptitude & Engineering Mathematics section was easy and candidates must score good marks in it.
Geotech Engineering & Environmental Engineering were the subjects with the highest marks weightage of 15 and 14 marks respectively.
The GATE CE 2020 exam was easy compared to the GATE 2019 CE exam.
