Percentage Required: The minimum qualifying marks to be eligible to apply for Assistant Engineer Trainee will be 70% or Equivalent CGPA.
Age limit: The maximum age limit for the Assistant Engineer Trainee is 28 years for the general category students. Special age relaxation is provided for various category students as follows:

  • For OBC (NCL) candidates: 3 years (for posts reserved for the respective category)

  • SC/ST candidates: 5 years (for posts reserved for the respective category)

  • PwD Candidates: 10 years over and above category relaxation

  • J&K Domicile / Ex-Servicemen/ Victims of riots:  As per Govt. of India directives

  • Reservation/ relaxation/ concession shall be as per Government of India directives.

Powergrid Salary For Assistant Engineer Trainee
PGCIL offers an attractive salary package and it’s one of the best in the business. Selected candidates will be placed on the pay scale of INR 40,000/- -3%- 140000(IDA) during the one-year training period. Candidates shall be paid a stipend in the form of Basic Pay of INR 40,000/- along with IDA, HRA and Perks @12% of basic pay during the training period. On successful completion of training, the candidates will be absorbed as Engineers in E2 scale – Rs. 50,000/- 3%- 1, 60,000/- (IDA).

Educational Qualifications:  Full-time Graduate Engineering Degree in Electrical/ Electrical (Power)/ Electrical & Electronics/ Power Engineering (Electrical)/ Power Systems Engineering / Civil/ Mechanical discipline with 70% marks from recognised University/Institute with full-time Post Graduate Degree/ Diploma in Industrial Safety with 70% from Labour Institutes (Central Labour Institute or Regional Labour Institute)/ recognized University. OR Full-time Graduate Engineering Degree in Industrial Safety with 70% marks from recognized university/institute.
Essential Experience: Candidate should have a post qualification executive experience of a minimum of one year in the IDA pay scale of INR 16400-40500 (pre-revised)/ INR 40000-140000 (revised) or equivalent level** as mentioned below:

  • Experience in Government: At least Gr-B Gazetted

  • Experience in Private Sector: Candidates should be in receipt of a minimum monthly renumeration of INR 44800. It should exclude medical, Leave encashment, and employer’s contribution towards Social Security for one year.

Profile required:

  • Candidates should have experience in safety implementation at work sites.

  • Experience in erection/ operation and maintenance of 132 kV and above transmission system

  • Should have creative attitude, cost and quality consciousness, leadership capability.

  • Experience in PSU /listed company particularly in the power sector will be preferred.

Age Limit: The upper age limit is 30 years for all the general category candidates with special age relaxation to various category students.

  • For the SC/ST students an upper age relaxation of 5 years

  • OBC (NCL) students: an upper age relaxation of 3 years

  • PwD students: an upper age relaxation of 10 years

Selection Procedure: The selection process will consist of Application scrutiny and Personal interview of shortlisted candidates. Applications of candidates shall be scrutinized based on the Job Specification given and the details of experience provided by candidates.
The qualifying marks in the interview shall be as given below:

  • UR – 40%,

  • SC/ST/OBC (NCL) – 30% (Based on the reservation of vacancies only)

Eligibility Criteria For PowerGrid Recruitment 2021

  • For Field Engineer (Electrical) and Field Engineer (Civil):

  • Candidate should have completed B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Sc. (Engineering)/ BE (Power Engineering) or its equivalent universities with at least 55% for general/OBC(NCL)/EWS and pass marks for SC/ST and PwD category

  • For Field Supervisor (Electrical) and Field Supervisor (Civil):

  • Candidates should have completed three years of full-time training in the Electrical/Civil Engineering (depending on the job profile) discipline from a recognized Technical Board / Institute with a minimum 55% mark for General, OBC (NCL)/EWS, and pass marks for SC/ST/PWD category
    Note - Higher technical qualification like B.Tech. / BE / M.Tech. /ME etc., with or without a Diploma is not allowed.

For Field Engineer

  1. There will be an interview round for all the eligible and shortlisted candidates

  2. The management can raise the minimum eligibility standards and/or conduct a screening test, ultimately limiting the number of candidates to be called for a personal Interview.

  3. The screening test would be used only for elimination and would not contribute to final merit.

  4. The test will take an hour, be composed of three sections, and have 10 questions:

  • Technical Knowledge Test – 50 questions based on Engineering syllabuses in relevant disciplines. Aptitude Test – 25 questions on logic, understanding of data, vocabulary, the sufficiency of data, and numerical ability.

  • Each of the questions will be MCQ format with four options and will carry equal weight (1 mark per option) with no negative marking.

For Field Supervisor

  1. The selection process will be based on screening tests of the candidates found eligible after thorough scrutiny of documents and eligibility criteria.

  2. Candidates who qualify for the screening test will be selected based on their scores in the screening test.

  3. The test’s scheme would be as follows and would last 1 hour:

  • Technical Knowledge Test – 50 questions based on the Diploma syllabus.

  • Aptitude Test – 25 questions based on logical reasoning, data interpretation, comprehension, vocabulary, data sufficiency, and numerical ability.
