What is GATE?
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering popularly known as ‘GATE’ is an online-based national level post-graduate entrance exam. It is conducted for Master of Engineering (ME), Masters in Technology (M. Tech), and direct Ph.D. admissions to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other prestigious universities and institutes across India. GATE is jointly conducted by the seven IITs - Mumbai, Delhi, Kanpur, Guwahati, Kharagpur, Chennai, and Roorkee along with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.
GATE is held for all the science undergraduates across India. It also opens a gateway for international students who stay in countries such as Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates. Other than this, GATE provides individuals with excellent career opportunities in public sector organizations (PSUs) and in the field of research. Some of the PSUs and research organizations that use the GATE score for providing jobs include ONGC, NTPC, GAIL, HPCL, PGCIL, BHEL, BSNL, HPCL, NHPC, BARC, DRDO, etc. GATE is usually conducted in January or February every year. It's a single system-based paper that is conducted for three hours and it usually tests the comprehensive knowledge of the applicants on the undergrad engineering topics.

About GATE 2022 Exam
IIT Kharagpur will conduct the GATE exam 2022 and it has released the official GATE notification on the website. The GATE exam 2022 will be conducted on 5,6 12 and 13 February 2022 in various cities across India. GATE scores are valid for a period of three successive years.
GATE Examination is conducted at a national level and roughly 1 million candidates are expected to appear for the GATE 2022 Exam. GATE Score carries a high weightage in top-tier institutes for the M. Tech admission process and also in prestigious PSUs for various engineering-related jobs. The GATE 2022 examination is a Computer Based Test (CBT).
To appear for GATE, candidates should have completed 10+2+2 or 10+3+1, currently studying in 3rd or higher years of an undergrad degree, OR should have already graduated from government-approved degree programs in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce /Arts.

What Is New In GATE 2022 Exam?
IIT Kharagpur has introduced two new papers for the GATE Exam 2022. The new papers introduced from next year include - Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering and Geomatics Engineering. You can find the syllabus for two new papers in the official GATE 2022 brochure.
There will be a separate GATE Exam 2022 score and ranking for candidates appearing for Geology and Geophysics (GG), Humanities and Social Sciences (XH), and Architecture and Planning (AR)
CE, CS, EC, EE, and ME papers will be conducted in multiple sessions. However, a candidate is allowed to appear in only one specified session
A candidate appearing in one or two papers will have to fill only one GATE application form 2022. In case of multiple applications, only one will be accepted and the remaining applications will be rejected without any refund for the paid fee.
From this year, direct recruitment to Group A level posts in the Central government, i.e Senior Field Officer (Tele), Senior Research Officer (Crypto), and Senior Research Officer (S&T) in Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India, is now being carried out on the basis of IITKGP GATE score.
The exam conducting authority has decreased GATE 2022 exam centers in some zones this year. The exam will not be conducted at any foreign centres due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
Applicants appearing for more than one paper have to pay the GATE Exam 2022 application fee separately for both papers.
Applicants must keep the IITKGP GATE 2022 scorecard safely after the results are declared.
Qualifying marks for EWS candidates is 90% as that of the General candidates.
Reservation Quota for EWS Candidates: A 10% reservation quota for Economically Weaker Section (EWS or GEN-EWS) candidates who wish to participate in the GATE exams.
Thumb Impression: Candidates don't have to upload their thumb impression while submitting the GATE application form.
Virtual Calculator: Candidates will be given the virtual calculator during the GATE exam. Candidates will not be allowed to attempt the exam with a Scientific Calculator.
