What Is GATE Exam?
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering popularly known as GATE is an all-India entrance exam that tests a candidate’s basic understanding of the various undergraduate subjects in engineering and sciences. It opens a number of opportunities for you to pursue in life. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) along with seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT's) jointly conduct the GATE examination every year. GATE is the qualifying entrance exam being conducted for admissions to postgraduate (PG) courses such as M.E/M.Tech/Ph.D in top-tier IITs, IIITs, and NITs.
Other than postgraduate admissions, GATE acts as a passport to fly overseas for higher studies else secure jobs in top Indian PSUs. GATE Entrance Exam Opportunities
When the candidate gets selected through test/interview for post-graduate programs, a minimum of 70% weightage will be given to the GATE performance and 30% weightage will be given to the candidate’s performance in test/interview and/or academic records based on the MHRD guidelines.
Also, the admitting institutes can prescribe a minimum passing percentage of marks in the test/interview. Some of the colleges/institutes specify GATE qualification as the mandatory requirement even for admission without the MHRD scholarship/assistantship.
Several top Indian public sector undertakings (PSU) consider GATE scores for screening for providing jobs. Candidates who qualify in the GATE exam will be provided with a scorecard that is valid for three years from the date of announcement of the results.

Who Can Apply For The GATE 2022?
In order to appear for the GATE 2022 exam, candidates must meet the prescribed eligibility criteria by the authorities. The GATE eligibility criteria will consist of parameters such as nationality, age limit, academic qualification, marks required, and more. Candidates should check if they meet the eligibility criteria or not before proceeding to fill the GATE 2022 application form.

Age Limit - No age limit.
Nationality - Candidates must be citizens of India. However, candidates from other countries can apply for GATE if they meet the given eligibility criteria.
Pass Percentage - No minimum pass percentage in the qualifying degree.
Academic Qualification -
The candidates should have passed or been in their final year or pre-final of Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology (B.E./B.Tech) or Postgraduate (M.Sc) degree in any relevant science subject.
Candidates who have secured/are pursuing their qualifying degree from countries other than India: Should be in the 3rd year or higher years or finished their Bachelor’s degree (at least 3 years) in Engineering / Technology / Science / Arts / Commerce.

Steps To Fill GATE 2022 Application Form
Register: Candidates will have to register through the GOAPS portal by entering their name, email ID, and mobile number. Once they’re successfully registered, an enrolment number will be generated. Create a password for login purposes for further process of the GATE exam.
Fill Application Form: Log in and enter all the requisite details like personal, educational, and contact information (please fill it carefully). Along with this, details related to college and valid photo ID also have to be filled in the application form. Further, selection of GATE paper and exam centers as per the preference had to be done.
Upload Scanned Images: Candidates will have to scan and upload photographs, signatures, and category certificates (if applicable) as per the specifications mentioned by the authorities.

GATE Scores
The GATE 2022 result will be announced by IIT Kharagpur on March 17, 2022. Candidates will be able to access the GATE result by logging into their accounts. The result will carry GATE scores which will be used for further admission process. The result will carry GATE scores out of 100, qualifying marks for GATE paper, All India Rank, and more.
Authorities calculate the scores by using the raw scores secured by the candidates in their respective GATE exam papers. For those GATE papers which have multiple sessions - a normalization process will be selected by the authorities. Candidates will be able to download their GATE scorecards from the official website.
Note that only those candidates who will meet the qualifying cutoff will be allotted rank and allowed to download the GATE scorecard. GATE 2022 scorecard will contain pieces of information such as score out of 1000, raw score, category-wise qualifying marks, rank, and more.
