The Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University came into existence in 1983 through the partitioning of the Nagpur University. The University was established with the aim to cater to the educational needs of western Vidarbha. Located at Amravati in Vidarbha, Maharashtra, the University has a lush green campus covering an area of about 470 acres. Initially, the University was part of the Nagpur University. Now, the Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University has jurisdiction over the districts of Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Buldana, and Washim. The vision of the university is to emancipate the youth from the darkness of ignorance for the elevation of the society by imparting knowledge and fostering wisdom at its plentiful. The University has its mission to contribute to the betterment of society through the pursuit of education, learning and research at the highest level of excellence. It provides an educational platform for the multidimensional and multi-faceted development of students, especially in the rural regions of Vidarbha.
