The Osmania University came into existence because of a Royal Charter by Nawab Osman Ali Khan who was the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad. The University is around 101 years old and the seventh oldest in India.

The Osmania University strives to achieve an intellectual synthesis of oriental and occidental learning.
