  • A character variable is a single alphabet,digit or symbol enclosed within a single inverted commas.Both inverted commas must point to the left. For example: ‘A’ is not a valid character whereas ’A’ is a valid character.

  1. Maximum length is 1 character.

  2. Eg: ’A’ ; ’!’ ; ’1’.
